Kenya Met Lists Counties to Receive Rainfall, Warns of Temperatures Above 30°C

Kenya Met Warns of Rainfall and Cold Weather Over the Next Five Days in Several Counties

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has listed counties expected to receive rainfall between July 14 and 20, 2026, while predicting cool conditions in some areas and high daytime temperatures in others.

According to the weekly forecast, most parts of the country will remain generally dry during the seven-day period.

However, Kenya Met expects rainfall in several counties, mainly across western Kenya, the Rift Valley and parts of the lake region.

The forecast shows that Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Nakuru, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Vihiga, Uasin Gishu and Nandi will receive rainfall during the forecast period.

Additionally, the department expects intermittent cool and cloudy conditions, accompanied by light rains over a few places, in parts of Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka-Nithi.

Kenya Met Highlights Cool and Cloudy Conditions in Central Kenya 

The weather agency noted that parts of the central region will experience cooler weather as cloudy conditions persist between July 14 and 20.

In these areas, residents can expect occasional light rainfall in a few locations, while other parts of the country continue with generally dry conditions.

The forecast covers counties around the central highlands, including Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka-Nithi.

High Temperatures in Several Counties

Meanwhile, the department has highlighted areas expected to record high daytime temperatures during the same period.

The department forecasts average maximum temperatures of more than 30°C in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, West Pokot and Turkana counties.

As a result, residents in these regions will experience warmer daytime conditions compared to other parts of the country.

Overall, KMD’s July 14–20 forecast shows varied weather patterns across the country, with some counties receiving rainfall, others experiencing cool and cloudy conditions and several regions recording higher daytime temperatures.
