How to Book an Appointment for Passport Application in Kenya via eCitizen

Learn how to cancel a passport application in Kenya. Follow simple steps for online and in-person cancellation based on your biometrics status.

Applying for a passport in Kenya requires applicants to complete an online application process before attending a physical appointment for biometric capture.

The Directorate of Immigration Services manages passport applications through the official eCitizen platform, which allows applicants to submit their details, pay fees and schedule appointments.

First, visit the official eCitizen immigration portal: https://immigration.ecitizen.go.ke. If you do not have an account, create one using your details. Existing users can log in using their credentials.

After logging in, select the Directorate of Immigration Services and choose the passport application option.

The platform guides applicants through the required steps before they can schedule an appointment.

Complete the Passport Application Form

Once you open the passport application section, select “Apply for Passport” and read the instructions carefully.

Then, fill in Form 19 online with accurate personal information, including your full name, date of birth, place of birth and next of kin details.

Next, upload the required documents. These include:

  • A copy of your national ID
  • Your birth certificate
  • Passport-size photos where applicable

Ensure that the information you provide matches your official documents. Accurate details help immigration officers verify your application without unnecessary delays.

Pay the Required Fees

After completing the application form, proceed to the payment section. The eCitizen system generates an invoice based on the passport type you select and the required fees is as follows:

  • Ordinary passport (34 pages) – KSh 7,550
  • Ordinary passport (50 pages) – KSh 9,550
  • Ordinary passport (66 pages) – KSh 12,050

Applicants replacing lost or mutilated passports pay KSh 20,050, while diplomatic passports cost KSh 15,050.

You can pay the required fees using Mobile money services such as M-Pesa, debit or credit cards, Online banking.

Once you complete the payment, download and print your application form, payment receipt, and invoice. Carry these documents when you attend your appointment.

Book Your Appointment

After making the payment, access the appointment booking section on eCitizen. Select your preferred immigration centre, date and available time slot.

Applicants can choose from designated immigration offices across Kenya, including Nairobi (Nyayo House), Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Embu, Kisii, Kericho and Bungoma.

Choose an appointment date that fits your schedule. Booking early can help you secure a convenient slot, especially at busy centres.

On your appointment day, visit the selected immigration office with all required documents. Carry your original identification documents together with the printed application forms and payment receipts.

During the visit, immigration officers will check your documents, capture your fingerprints, take your digital passport photo and record your signature

You must attend the appointment in person because immigration officials need to collect your biometric information before processing your passport.
