Daystar University Announces RAO2026 Memorial Conference for Raila Odinga

Daystar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Laban Ayiro has announced the upcoming RAO2026 Memorial Conference, which will honour the life and legacy of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The three-day conference, themed “Remembering Baba,” will take place from October 12 to 14, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
Professor Ayiro made the announcement on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, after visiting Mama Ida Odinga for consultations on the planned conference.
Ayiro Consults Mama Ida Odinga
In his post, Professor Ayiro said he had the privilege of meeting Mama Ida Odinga as part of preparations for the significant event.
“As part of the preparations, I had the privilege of visiting Mama Ida Odinga for thoughtful consultations on this significant conference,” Ayiro said.

Conference to Reflect on Raila Odinga’s Legacy
The RAO2026 Memorial Conference will bring together scholars, political leaders, policymakers and citizens to reflect on Raila Odinga’s contribution to the country.
The conference will focus on his role in advancing democracy, national unity and social justice.
It will also examine his contribution to Kenya’s political and social transformation.
Ayiro said the event would provide a distinguished platform to reflect on what he described as Baba’s extraordinary contribution to Kenya and Africa.
“The gathering will provide a distinguished platform for scholars, leaders, policymakers and citizens to reflect on Baba’s extraordinary contribution to democracy, national unity, social justice and the transformation of Kenya and Africa,” he said.

Daystar University to Preserve Raila’s Legacy
Daystar University said it was honoured to be associated with the historic undertaking.
The university will use the conference to preserve Raila Odinga’s legacy, examine his ideas and encourage future generations to embrace leadership based on courage, sacrifice and service.
“Daystar University is honoured to be associated with this historic undertaking as we preserve his legacy, interrogate his ideas and inspire future generations to pursue leadership founded on courage, sacrifice and service to humanity,” Ayiro said.
