48 Women Rescued in DCI Crackdown on Sexual Exploitation

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has rescued 48 women during operations targeting alleged sexual exploitation and obscene content production in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

In a statement dated July 24, DCI said the operations uncovered suspected criminal enterprises exploiting young women through the production of explicit content and commercial prostitution.

“In the fight against sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material, detectives have ramped up their operations in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai, uncovering shocking enterprises preying on our young women,” read part of the statement.

DCI Raids Alleged Explicit Content House, Rescues 30 Women

According to the DCI, the first operation was conducted in the Rimpa area of Ongata Rongai, where detectives raided a house believed to have been used for the commercial production of explicit content.

Police said the operation was launched after receiving information from members of the public, leading to the rescue of 30 women aged between 19 and 27 who were allegedly trapped in the scheme.

“In a raid on a house believed to be a den for the commercial production of explicit content in Rimpa area of Ongata Rongai, police acted swiftly on tips from the members of the public and found 30 women, aged 19 to 27, trapped in a nightmarish scheme,” DCI stated.

DCI further revealed that a search of the premises led to the recovery of seven laptops fitted with cameras, alongside other equipment believed to have been used in the production of obscene content.

Meanwhile, the suspects arrested during the operation were taken into custody at Ongata Rongai Police Station, where they are being held pending investigations and arraignment.

Women Allegedly Lured With Fake Job Promises

In a separate operation in neighbouring Kiserian, detectives acted on credible intelligence that young women were being lured with promises of domestic jobs.

However, according to the DCI, the women allegedly found themselves caught in a network of sexual exploitation and commercial prostitution instead.

Therefore, after a joint operation involving officers from Kiserian and Rongai police stations,18 women were rescued and have since been placed under police protection.

DCI also noted that during the operation, officers recovered mobile phones, laptops and other items believed to have been used in the commission of the alleged offences.

The agency said that the prime suspect remains at large, with detectives pursuing leads to track down and arrest the individual.

The DCI said arrangements are underway to provide the rescued women with safe and appropriate shelter.

Authorities added that the women will receive comprehensive support services, including psychosocial counselling and medical care, to ensure their safety, dignity and successful reintegration into society.
