DCI Arrests Man Accused of Running Fake Qatar Jobs Agency and Conning Job Seekers

DCI arrests George Waweru Ngendo behind a fake recruitment agency accused of conning job seekers Ksh110,000 with false Qatar opportunities; charges approved by ODPP.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a man accused of running a fake recruitment agency that allegedly conned job seekers out of thousands of shillings with false promises of employment in Qatar.

To begin with, George Waweru Ngendo, a director of Geovany Agencies Limited, drew investigators’ attention after a victim reported losing Ksh110,000.

The victim paid for what the suspect presented as a lucrative job opportunity in Qatar, only to later discover that the offer did not exist.

Following the complaint, officers from the Serious Crime Unit at DCI Headquarters tracked down and arrested the suspect.

“Detectives from the DCI Headquarters’ Serious Crime Unit have arrested George Waweru Ngendo over allegations of obtaining money through false claims in a purported overseas job recruitment scheme,” the DCI stated.

George Waweru allegedly convinced victims to pay fees in exchange for travel and job arrangements that never came.

Moreover, investigators found that the company presented itself as a legitimate recruiter and used false claims to gain trust.

ODPP Approves Charges in Fake Recruitment Agency Case

After completing the probe, detectives forwarded the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The ODPP reviewed the evidence and approved charges against the suspect over his alleged role in the fake recruitment agency scheme.

Meanwhile, Waweru remains in custody and will appear at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, July 27, 2026. The court will hear charges related to obtaining money through false claims.

In response, the DCI has urged the public to stay alert when dealing with recruitment agencies.

Officials warned that fraudsters often pose as licensed firms and use fake recruitment agency setups to exploit job seekers.
