Matatu Hits Pedestrians on Enterprise Road, Leaving One Dead and Five Injured

A matatu lost control and rammed into pedestrians along Enterprise Road near KCB Bank in Nairobi’s Industrial Area on the night of July 24, killing one person and injuring five others.

According to police, the driver veered off the road and drove into pedestrians walking nearby along Enterprise Road, causing multiple casualties.

Eyewitnesses said the matatu was heading toward the city centre when the driver suddenly lost control.

The vehicle swerved off the carriageway and mounted the roadside, where it struck several pedestrians.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Responders also moved the deceased’s body to Nairobi Funeral Home as officers began investigations.

Previous Deadly Crash on Enterprise Road Raises Concern

Meanwhile, the latest accident adds to growing safety concerns along Enterprise Road, where several serious crashes have occurred in recent weeks.

Earlier, on the night of June 3, a matatu lost control and overturned along the same Enterprise Road, killing at least four people and injuring 15 others.

Police said the crash occurred at about 8:00 pm near the Dar es Salaam Roundabout in the Industrial Area.

Investigators reported that the matatu was traveling from the DT Dobie direction toward General Motors when a motorcycle rider emerged from Dakar Road and failed to give way, triggering the crash.

Authorities also warned that the number of casualties could have risen due to the severity of the injuries.

NTSA Issues Safety Warning

Meanwhile, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has continued to urge motorists and boda boda riders to follow traffic rules.

The agency warns that speeding, reckless driving, and drunk driving remain the leading causes of road accidents.
