Accident Survivor Narrates How He Narrowly Escaped Death With Wife

A road accident along the Naivasha-Eldoret highway in the early hours of Monday, May 4, 2026, has left two people dead following a head-on collision involving a trailer and a Nissan vehicle.

Hivileo has established that the crash, which occurred at around 1:00 a.m., involved a Nissan that was heading to Bungoma from Nairobi.

According to reports, the impact was severe, particularly on the driver’s side, leading to the deaths of the Nissan driver and one passenger on the spot.

Accident Claims Lives and Injuries 

A survivor who was seated in the front alongside his wife recounted the terrifying moment, saying the trailer rammed into their vehicle head-on without warning.

“I was seated in the front with my wife. The trailer hit us head-on. The driver’s side was the most impacted. My wife is okay, she only injured her legs, one woman and the driver died on the spot,” he said.

The man revealed that his wife survived the crash but sustained leg injuries. He also raised concerns over looting at the scene, claiming that their personal belongings were stolen in the aftermath of the accident.

“We were robbed of our bags and belongings; even the trailer had its fuel stolen by people,” he added.

NTSA Warning to Road Users 

This comes after NTSA raised concerns over the alarming number of road accident fatalities.

During a public forum in Kabati police station in early March 2026,Murang’a County, NTSA official Njeri Kuria highlighted the growing number of fatalities, urging motorists to be cautious and follow road safety rules.

“These numbers are nothing to be proud of. Last year alone we lost over 5,000 lives. This year alone we have lost over 1,100 people. I urge you to remain vigilant on roads,” she said.

She added that Murang’a and Kiambu are among the top areas affected, calling for urgent action to minimize the numbers.
