The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will hold a Central Committee meeting on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Speaking on Thursday, October 23, ODM Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir said the urgent meeting aims at discussing important party matters.

Nassir said the party officials will also deliberate on growing speculation of an impending Cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto.

He stated that ODM interim party leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga will chair the meeting.

Nassir said the meeting will allow ODM officials to reassess the party’s direction post Raila Odinga.

“We will have a special Central Committee meeting that Oburu Odinga will be chairing on Monday with three main agendas focusing on upcoming by-elections, celebrating ODM at 20, where we will celebrate the 80 years we had with our party leader, the late Raila Odinga, and discussing the 10-point agenda signed between UDA and ODM,” Nassir stated.

ODM Next Steps

Nassir said the death of Raila Odinga has left a significant leadership gap, and the meeting will address the internal cohesion of the party.

“Our opponents want to see us fall, but we will be meeting where we will forge the way forward and iron out the ideological differences that appear to emerge,” Nassir said, expressing optimism that the party will remain united despite external pressure.

ODM Divisions

ODM party officials have been given different directions regarding working with President William Ruto in the broad-based government.

The Party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has insisted that ODM will field a candidate in 2027, while another faction led by Chairperson Gladys Wanga insists that the party will remain in the broad-based government.
