David Keter Dollarline Biography

David Kipsang Keter, popularly known as Dollarline, is a prominent businessman, farmer and politician from the Rift Valley region.

He is widely recognised for his influence in regional politics, extensive petroleum business investments and large-scale livestock farming ventures across Narok County and the wider South Rift region.

Born in 1970, Dollarline comes from Chelemei in Kasasian Ward, one of the largest voting blocs in Emurua Dikirr Constituency.

Over the years, he has built a strong political and business network that has made him one of the most influential figures in the region.

Business and Farming Ventures

Dollarline is involved in petroleum businesses located in strategic towns across the South Rift region, including Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, and Nairobi.

Apart from business, he is also known for commercial livestock farming, especially the rearing of Dorper sheep and Sahiwal cattle.

Political Journey

Over the years, Dollarline has earned a reputation as a political kingmaker within the Rift Valley region.

He is credited with influencing several political outcomes and building alliances that have shaped politics in Narok and neighbouring counties.

His supporters view him as a grassroots mobiliser with deep influence among the Kipsigis community and within the wider South Rift political landscape.

Dollarline’s political influence in the Rift Valley dates back to 2007 when he reportedly joined local leaders in backing the late Johana Ngeno during the Kilgoris parliamentary race against Gideon Konchella.

He is also credited with mobilising support from the Kipsigis community living in Narok County for the election of the first Narok governor, Samuel ole Tunai.

Dollarline is further credited with introducing the political strategy of pairing Maasai gubernatorial candidates with Kipsigis running mates in Narok politics.

He reportedly pushed for Evelyn Chepkirui Aruasa to deputise Samuel ole Tunai, a move that succeeded and influenced future political alignments in the county.

The trend has continued in Narok politics, with current Governor Patrick ole Ntutu choosing Tamalinye Koech as his deputy.

Parliamentary Ambitions

Dollarline has contested the parliamentary seat in Emurua Dikirr in 2013, 2017, and 2022, finishing second in all three elections while steadily increasing his vote tally in each election cycle.

Following the death of Johana Ngeno in a helicopter crash in Nandi County alongside five others, Dollarline entered the race to succeed him in the Emurua Dikirr by-election.

He secured the United Democratic Alliance parliamentary ticket after winning nominations conducted across 96 polling stations.

He garnered 13,759 votes against Bernard Kipkoech Ng’eno, popularly known as Buluu, who received 13,394 votes in a closely contested exercise.

In the by-election, Dollarline is facing competition from several candidates, including Vincent Rotich of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Desma Cherono, Gideon Koech, and Kenneth Kiprono.

His main political battle is expected to be against Vincent Rotich, with the contest drawing national attention due to the rivalry between President William Ruto’s UDA party and allies associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Dollarline has received backing from several senior UDA leaders, including Aaron Cheruiyot, Oscar Sudi, and the widow of the late MP, Nayianoi Ntutu.
