A fire broke out at the Nairobi residence of former governor Mike Sonko on Saturday, August 8, prompting a swift response from Nairobi City County emergency teams.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the day and quickly drew public attention with  videos circulating online showing flames and thick smoke rising from a section of the property.

As the footage spread across social media, it captured emergency responders moving decisively to contain the situation.

Geoffrey Mosiria Assists in Containing Fire

Meanwhile, Nairobi Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria, together with the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, rushed to the scene following reports of the fire.

Upon arrival, the team immediately began coordinating efforts to secure the premises and manage the blaze.

According to county responders, an electrical fault caused the fire and affected part of the residence.

Consequently, emergency teams acted quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other sections of the property.

Emergency Response and Ongoing Assessment

After containing the fire, firefighters remained at the scene to conduct assessments and establish the extent of the damage.

At the time of publication, authorities had not reported any injuries linked to the incident.

In addition, officials are expected to carry out a detailed evaluation of the affected areas as part of standard procedure.
