Gachagua Welcomes 10 ODM and UDA Politicians to DCP

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed nine Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Kajiado County to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), saying the move signals growing support for the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua announced the move on Monday, August 10, saying the MCAs had moved to DCP from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Jubilee Party.
In a statement shared on social media, Gachagua said the MCAs had joined DCP after receiving instructions from their supporters.
“The journey to 100% DCP in Kajiado is almost complete,” Gachagua said.
“This morning, I received into the DCP Party nine MCAs from Kajiado County who have decamped to the party from Jubilee, ODM and UDA.”
Gachagua said he did not need to ask the MCAs to assess the political situation on the ground because they were directly connected to voters.
“I never asked the MCAs to listen to the ground; they are the ground themselves. They have told me that the ground is green,” he said.
According to Gachagua, the MCAs told him that residents had instructed them to join a party they believed would listen to their concerns and aspirations.
“They have informed me that they have received clear instructions from their people to join the party that cares and listens to the aspirations of Kenyans,” he added.

Nine MCAs Join DCP
The MCAs named by Gachagua include Kajiado County Assembly Minority Leader Isaac Kiresian, who represents Magadi Ward and previously belonged to ODM.
The other MCAs are Joseph Torris of Ewuaso Oonkidongi Ward and Edward Lemomo of Kuku Ward, both from ODM.
Caroline Ndeti, a nominated MCA representing Kaputei North Ward, has also joined DCP from Jubilee.
Four other MCAs moved from UDA. They are Titus Matheka of Ongata Rongai Ward, John Maina Mutiga of Nkaimurunya Ward, nominated MCA Nais Naisiae Karia, Marush Kisemei of Oloosirkon Sholinko Ward and Mbiriri Mwaura of Ngong Ward.
Gachagua also listed Peter Tirishe, an aspirant for Mosiro Ward, among those who joined the party from ODM.

Party Targets Wider Political Support
The former Deputy President said the latest move showed that DCP was expanding as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
“Our party continues to grow and expand significantly, with just one year to go before 10th August 2027,” Gachagua said.
The new members were accompanied by DCP Narok Township Ward MCA Douglas Masikonde, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo and Kajiado Senator Kanar Seki.
Gachagua also highlighted the party’s colours and political ambitions, stating, “The Future is Green.”
