Parts of Waiyaki Way to Be Closed for One Month

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) to facilitate highway maintenance works.
In a notice on Friday, October 2, KeNHA said the affected section, located between Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange on the Mombasa-bound lanes, will be partially closed from Thursday, October 8, 2026, to Saturday, November 7, 2026.
“KeNHA notifies the public that a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) between Kempinski and Museum Hill Interchange on the Mombasa-bound lanes will be partially closed temporarily from Thursday, October 8, 2026, to Saturday, November 7, 2026,” reads part of the notice.
KeNHA said the closure will allow contractors to carry out maintenance works along the affected section of the highway.
Advisory to Motorists Using Waiyaki Way
The authority has advised motorists using Waiyaki Way during the closure period to use the sections that remain open and consider alternative routes to minimise traffic disruption.

“All Motorists intending to use Waiyaki Way during this period will utilize the unclosed sections of this road as well as consider using alternative routes to ensure minimal traffic disruption,” KeNHA said.
KeNHA has also urged motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed to the area.

Restoration of Normal Traffic
The authority said it will restore normal traffic operations along the affected section once the maintenance works are complete.
“Motorists are further advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site. Normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works,” the Authority added.
