Citibank Kenya to Move Corporate Banking Operations from Mombasa to Nairobi

Citibank Kenya has announced plans to shift its corporate banking operations from Mombasa to its Nairobi headquarters, effective November 30, 2026.
In a notice dated August 26, the bank said the transition is part of its efforts to optimize its corporate banking network while accelerating the modernization and digitization of its banking services.
“Effective November 30, 2026, Citibank, N.A. Kenya (“Citi Kenya”) will consolidate its physical operations and manage all corporate banking services from its Nairobi headquarters,” read part of the notice.
Citibank Kenya Changes Mombasa Operations
The bank said the strategic move has received all required regulatory approvals and forms part of its ongoing efforts to modernize its banking network.
According to Citibank, the transition will see Nairobi become the central location for Citi Kenya’s corporate banking operations, while customers will continue accessing services through various channels.
In addition, the bank said the change in its physical operations will not disrupt the banking services available to its clients.

It added that customers will continue to have access to the bank’s institutional banking products and services, including through CitiDirect and other electronic banking platforms.
“Clients will continue to have full access to Citi Kenya’s comprehensive suite of Institutional banking products and services through CitiDirect and other electronic banking platforms,” read part of the notice.
Citi Kenya said the transition will not affect the security or continuity of the services currently enjoyed by its customers.
Relationship Managers to Continue Supporting Clients
The bank also assured customers that dedicated support will remain available throughout the transition, with Relationship Managers and Client Service teams continuing to guide and assist clients with their banking needs.

Customers seeking clarification about the change have been advised to contact their Relationship Manager or the bank’s client service team.
The bank highlighted that the shift in its Mombasa operations does not amount to an exit from the Kenyan market.
Citi Kenya stated that it remains a fully present and licensed banking institution in Kenya and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting customers and contributing to the development of the country’s financial sector.
