KAA Announces Full Resumption of Flight Operations Hours After Aviation Workers’ Strike

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced that flight operations have returned to normal across all airports following the full resumption of Air Traffic Control services.

In a notice dated September 1 2026, KAA said both arriving and departing flights are now being facilitated across its airport network.

KAA revealed that between 3:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on September 1, 2026, Kenya’s major airports handled 244 flights, including arrivals and departures.

“All our airports are operating normally following the full resumption of Air Traffic Control services,” KAA said.

Restored Flight Operations

KAA said the figures reflect the continued restoration of flight operations across the country as airlines gradually return to their normal schedules.

Additionally KAA also urged travellers whose journeys were affected by the earlier disruptions to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest flight information and to confirm their travel arrangements before proceeding to the airport.

The authority said this would help passengers receive the most up-to-date information on departures, arrivals and any schedule adjustments that may still be implemented by individual airlines.

According to KAA, airport teams remain committed to delivering a seamless travel experience while maintaining safety and operational efficiency across all facilities.

Further KAA expressed appreciation to passengers, airlines, cargo operators and the wider aviation community for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the period of disrupted operations.

KAA added that airport teams have been fully deployed to facilitate safe, secure and efficient operations while ensuring passengers receive a seamless travel experience.

The latest update provides reassurance to travellers and the aviation sector that normal airport operations have resumed as efforts continue to stabilise flight schedules across Kenya’s airports.
