Missing Businesswoman Found Dead Days After Disappearance

A Kenyan businesswoman and mother of two, Nancy Akinyi Koiya, from Chemase Location in Nandi County, has been found dead days after she was reported missing.

Her husband, Kiplagat Koiya, reportedly raised the alarm after she failed to return home several days before her body was discovered.

Nancy was a well-known local entrepreneur who ran a hotel and catering business at the busy Kibigori Junction, on the border of Kisumu and Nandi counties.

According to reports, her body was discovered along the Chemelil-Miwani Road after efforts to locate her following her disappearance.

Residents indicate that the body had visible signs of physical injuries, including a broken arm and other signs of physical assault.

Following the discovery of her body, homicide detectives secured the area, and officers took her body to a local mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, police in Muhoroni and Nandi have launched a joint investigation into the case, saying they will retrace the deceased’s final movements and pursue any available leads as her family seeks justice.

Another Missing Person Found Dead in Kirinyaga

Elsewhere, in Kirinyaga County, the body of 33-year-old Isaac Gicobi was found in an abandoned, water-filled quarry pit days after he was reported missing.

Gicobi, who worked as a casual labourer and miraa picker, was last seen on Saturday night before his remains were discovered on Tuesday afternoon, September 1.

His body was recovered from a pit between his home and Mumbu village along the Piai-Ngariama Road in Mwea East Sub-county.

According to reports, children who were fishing in a nearby swamp alerted residents after noticing a foul smell coming from the water. However, by the time Gicobi’s body was recovered, it had reportedly begun to decompose.

His brother, John Muthike, and uncle, James Muriithi, said the family had spent days searching for him before learning that his body had been found.

Muthike further alleged that Gicobi had suffered severe head injuries and that his eyes appeared to have been gouged out, raising concerns that his brother could have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in the quarry.
