A small aircraft carrying 12 people crashed early Tuesday while flying from Diani to Kichwa Tembo, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed.
The aircraft, registered 5Y-CCA, went down at approximately 5:30 a.m. local time (0530Z). Government agencies are already on site, working to determine the cause of the accident and assess its impact.
“The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority is coordinating with relevant government agencies to investigate the incident,” said Emile N. Arao, KCAA director general, in a statement.
Reports indicate that rescuers have not yet saved any of the 12 passengers on board.
The plane crashed around 8 a.m. after departing from Diani.
Government agencies have been deployed to the crash site in Kwale County to determine the cause of the accident and assess its impact.

Those privy to the situation cited poor visibility due to the unfavorable weather conditions as a possible cause of the fatal crash
Further details on casualties or the condition of those on board have not yet been released.
KCAA is the country’s regulatory authority responsible for aviation safety, security, air navigation services, and the training of aviation personnel.
The agency operates under Kenya’s Civil Aviation Act and international aviation standards.

Witnesses reported that the aircraft burst into flames after impact, leaving debris scattered over a wide area.
Rescue teams, including police and local residents, rushed to the scene but unfortunately found no survivors.
“The plane engulfed in flames upon crashing.The crash occurred moments after takeoff in Kwale Tsimba an area known for it’s forest cover and thickets.We are still working to recover the remains and identify the victims,” Commander Abdillah Alio revealed
According to reports, the aircraft was carrying tourists heading to Maasai Mara and had been expected to arrive at around 9 a.m. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
