ODM Announces Date and Venue for Youth Convention

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the resumption of its Youth Conventions programme, unveiling Busia and Kisumu counties as the next hosts of the political mobilization activities targeting young party supporters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday May 13, the party said the youth conventions had initially been paused to allow for the recently concluded party retreat in Mombasa, which focused on strengthening internal party structures and revitalizing its youth wing.

“After the successful Party retreat held last week in Mombasa, we have embarked on our Youth Conventions which were paused to give room for the retreat which emphasized the need to strengthen and reenergize the Party’s youth league as we head into election year,” ODM said.

Busia, Kisumu to Host Conventions

ODM said the Youth League together with the Comrades Chapter has already lined up several activities in line with resolutions passed by the party’s Central Committee during a meeting held in Nairobi last month of April.

“In this regard, the ODM Youth League together with the Comrade’s Chapter of the league have scheduled several activities as per the resolution of the Central Committee of the Party held in Nairobi last month,” the statement added.

The Party announced that Busia County will host the first convention on Sunday, May 24, 2026, bringing together ODM youth representatives from all sub-counties within the region.

“On Sunday, 24th May 2026, Busia County shall host the Youth Convention which will bring together party youths from all Sub-Counties in the County,” ODM stated.

A week later, the convention caravan will move to Kisumu County as the party intensifies grassroots mobilization efforts among young supporters.

“On Sunday, 31st May 2026, it will be the turn of Kisumu County to host this activity,” the party announced.

Push to Reenergize Youth Wing

The renewed convention programme is expected to serve as a platform for political engagement, recruitment, and reorganization of local youth leadership structures.

Further, ODM indicated that more activities are planned in the coming weeks as it broadens the outreach programme to other parts of the country.

“Activities for the month of June will be announced in due course,” ODM said.
