Headteacher Arrested as Probe Into Amos Kibet Fatal Shooting Deepens

A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a brutal assault by a man known to her in Narok’s Babong Estate, as authorities intensify investigations and residents demand justice

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Marakwet East have arrested a primary school headteacher in connection with the fatal shooting of Amos Kibet in Mon Location, Kerio Valley Sub-County.

Peter Suter Kipkeu, the headteacher of Koitilial Primary School in Kerio Valley Sub-County, was arrested following investigations into Kibet’s death, a civil servant and teacher.

Initially, authorities reported the case at Mogil Police Station, where detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

“Following investigations and subsequent recommendations by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), detectives from DCI Marakwet East have arrested Peter Suter Kipkeu, the headteacher of Koitilial Primary School in Kerio Valley Sub-County, in connection with the murder,” DCI said.

Amos Kibet Shooting Remains Under Investigation

For months, detectives investigated Kibet’s fatal shooting as they worked to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

During the investigation, detectives pursued leads connected to the case after authorities initially reported it at Mogil Police Station.

They also took the matter through the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which subsequently made recommendations.

Following the recommendations, DCI Marakwet East detectives arrested Kipkeu, Koitilial Primary School headteacher, in connection with Kibet’s murder.

Meanwhile, the DCI continued its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kibet’s fatal shooting at Mon Location. The agency said detectives were pursuing every lead connected to the case.

DCI Appeals for Information

As detectives pursue the investigation, the DCI said they remain focused on establishing the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

“As the wheels of justice begin to turn, detectives continue to pursue every thread connected to the case, determined to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting and ensure that all those found culpable are brought to justice,” the DCI said.

Additionally, the agency appealed to members of the public who may have information about the case to report it anonymously through the #FichuaKwaDCI initiative.
