CS Ogamba Announces Several Appointments to Universities, Including JKUAT

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has made several appointments to the governing councils of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Bomet University and Kajiado National Polytechnic.
The appointments were published in a Gazette Notice dated Friday, September 11, 2026, with the appointees set to serve for three years.
At JKUAT, Ogamba appointed six people to the university’s council, including Avedi Evans Kituzi, Ali Nilfat Kassim, Yienga Julius, Magdaline Chepkemoi, Abass Jihan Faisal and Collins Saitaga.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 (3) of the Science, Technology and Innovation Act, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs appoints— Avedi Evans Kituzi,” the Gazette Notice reads.
Ali Nilfat Kassim, Yienga Julius, Magdaline Chepkemoi, Abass Jihan Faisal and Collins Saitaga were appointed under paragraph (e), with all six set to serve for three years from September 11, 2026.
Ogamba Appoints Bomet University Council
Meanwhile, Ogamba appointed Prof. John Shiundu as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Bomet University Council.
He also appointed Emily Kwamboka Nyagarama, Rose Chepkorir, Fredrick Njoroge, Reuben C. Butaki and Amos Okello as members of the council, with all appointments taking effect from September 11.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints— John Shiundu (Prof.) – Chairperson,” the Gazette Notice states.
Emily Kwamboka Nyagarama, Rose Chepkorir, Fredrick Njoroge, Reuben C. Butaki and Amos Okello were appointed under paragraph (d) as council members.
Moses Narok Named Kajiado Polytechnic Chairperson
At Kajiado National Polytechnic, Ogamba appointed Moses Narok as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the institution’s council for three years, effective September 11, 2026.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Kajiado National Polytechnic Order, as read with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints— MOSES NAROK as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kajiado National Polytechnic Council,” the notice reads.

The appointment also revoked Narok’s earlier appointment as a council member, which had been published under Gazette Notice No. 13532/26.
The latest appointments place new council members and leadership at the three institutions for the next three years.
