DCI Goes After MP Linked to Kindiki’s Embu Attack

The Member of Parliament for Manyatta, John Gitonga, has alleged in a church service that DCI and police officers were deployed to his home in Manyatta constituency to arrest him.

Gitonga spoke in a church service in his constituency, saying that a lot of DCI and police officers were after him, but he managed to escape on a motorbike.

He told the church that he got information about the officers outside his residence and he had to flee using a motorbike so that he would not be arrested.

“Today has been a challenging day for me. I am waiting for them to come and arrest me here at the house of God. I had made the decision that, even if they try to invade my house, I will sneak using a boda boda until I come here,” said Gitonga.

Kithure Kindiki Links Gitonga To Violence

Additionally, he claimed that the officers who wanted to arrest him did everything to make sure he was stuck in his house.

“They had done everything to see to it that I do not make it here, that I am stuck in that house.” He said.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki linked Gitonga to the violence that took place in Embu during a rally on September 12, 2026, leaving vehicles torched and several people dead.

During the September 12 2026 rally in Embu, chaos erupted as groups of youths clashed, leading to the burning of vehicles and fatalities, with several others sustaining injuries during the unrest.

Speaking after the incident, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki alleged that Gitonga was among leaders linked to the violence and warned that those found responsible would face the law regardless of their political position.

However, Gitonga’s remarks at the church service suggested he believes the planned arrest is politically motivated, saying he was prepared to face arrest even while attending worship.

By the time of publication, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service had not publicly responded to Gitonga’s claims that officers had been deployed to arrest him at his home.

On the same note, the National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have confirmed that two suspects have been arrested over the violence, adding that investigations into the incident are still underway.
