DCI Seeks Public’s Help to Trace Man Accused of Defrauding Canada Job Applicants

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has asked the public to help trace Elizaphan Mayenga Michira, who is wanted on allegations of obtaining money by false pretences.

Michira is accused of targeting job seekers with promises of employment and travel opportunities in Canada, with some applicants allegedly paying large sums after being assured that he could facilitate their relocation.

The suspect is said to have offered several types of jobs, including positions as nurse aides, storekeepers and truck drivers.

Investigators are now seeking information that could lead to his arrest as they work to establish the full extent of the alleged fraud.

Michira accused of collecting money from Canada job seekers

According to the DCI, Michira allegedly presented himself as someone who could facilitate employment opportunities and travel arrangements for people seeking to work in Canada.

Prospective applicants reportedly paid substantial amounts for various services linked to the promised journey.

The expenses included visa processing, medical examinations, biometric registration and air travel.

Investigators later established that some of the documents and travel arrangements presented to the complainants were fraudulent, raising concerns about how the suspects allegedly induced applicants to make the payments.

These allegations form the basis of an investigation into the transactions involving the affected job seekers, with Michira remaining at large as detectives work to trace and arrest him.

Court warrant issued as DCI intensifies manhunt

The matter has been registered before the Milimani Law Courts under CR No. 011/14/2026 and Criminal Case No. E223/2026.

A warrant of arrest has been issued against Michira and remains in force, allowing detectives to arrest him once they trace him.

DCI has provided his particulars as Elizaphan Mayenga Michira, from Borabu District, Borabu Division, Makenene Location and Matutu Sub-Location.

The agency is appealing to anyone who may know his whereabouts to come forward and assist investigators.
