How Mr Handsome Official Live Built a New Following After Losing His TikTok Account

Yassin Osen, popularly known online as Mr Handsome Official Live, is among a growing group of Kenyan digital creators who have turned live streaming and short-form videos into a career.
Mr Handsome Official Live is known for his sarcastic humour, relaxed delivery, and content rooted in Luhya culture.
He has developed a distinctive identity in Kenya’s increasingly competitive digital entertainment space.
Born on June 8, 1996, in Isongo, Kakamega County, Osen was raised in a Luhya family.
He attended Lurale Primary School before joining Lwandeti Secondary School, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Osen entered the content creation space in 2023, although his early efforts did not immediately attract a large following.
However, Mr Handsome Official Live did not give up.
He continued creating and experimenting with different forms of digital content as he sought to establish himself.
His breakthrough came in 2024 when he started creating TikTok content that incorporated the Luhya language and culture.
His delivery is often characterised by sarcasm and an intentionally laid-back or seemingly reluctant approach.
This really helped distinguish him from other creators who already flooded social media platforms.
Building an Audience
As his popularity grew, Osen expanded his activities beyond short-form videos to live streaming and YouTube.
His content has attracted audiences in Kenya and beyond, particularly viewers who connect with his humour and cultural references.
In a past interview, Mr Handsome Official Live explained how other digital creators influenced his journey and career.

Among those he has identified as inspirations are Nigerian creators Peller and Jadrolita, as well as Kenyan personalities Nyako Pilot and Billionaire.
His manager has previously explained that Osen’s choice of inspirations reflected a mix of Kenyan and international creators who influenced his development as a streamer.
Losing a Million-Follower Account
Despite his growing popularity, Osen’s digital journey suffered a major setback when his original TikTok account, which had accumulated more than one million followers, was permanently banned.
The loss meant starting again after years of building an established online community.

Rather than abandon the platform, however, Osen created another account and began rebuilding his audience.
The new account has since attracted more than 250,000 followers, giving him a fresh platform from which to continue his streaming and content creation work.
The comeback has become an important part of his digital journey, demonstrating how creators can rebuild an audience even after losing an established platform.

Osen’s growing profile has also attracted recognition within Kenya’s digital entertainment industry.
He was recently awarded the Digital Creator Inspiration Award, adding to his milestones in content creation.
The recognition came as he continued developing his presence as a live streamer, YouTuber, and TikTok creator.
Osen is currently signed under Smartboy Management and continues to produce digital content.
Besides, he has maintained his focus on live streaming and culturally influenced entertainment.
His journey from relatively limited attention during his early days in content creation to building a large online community has made him a notable figure in Kenya’s emerging live-streaming scene.
