KRA Announces 2027 Licence Renewal for Bonded Warehouses and MUB Facilities

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has set October 31, 2026, as the deadline for operators of bonded warehouses, Manufacture Under Bond (MUB) facilities and transit godowns to apply for renewal of their 2027 licences.

According to KRA, the current licences for these facilities will expire on December 31, 2026, requiring operators to complete the renewal process before the expiry date.

“Operators are therefore required to submit their applications for renewal of their licences for 2027,” KRA stated.

KRA Lists Documents Required for Renewal

For the renewal process, the Authority requires operators to submit several documents alongside their applications.

These include:

• Copy of valid licence for the year 2026.
• Copy of a valid relevant Security Bond (CB6).
• Current CR12 of the company.
• Copy of Title or valid lease agreement whose duration is longer than the term of the licence.
• Copy of current Tax Compliance Certificate for the Company.
• Copy of current Tax Compliance Certificate for each of the Company’s directors.
• Audited annual accounts for the Company for the previous financial year (2025).
• Form C18 duly completed, signed and stamped by the Operator and Customs Officer.

Operators Must Clear Outstanding KRA Issues

Beyond the documentation, applicants must ensure they have no outstanding transactions or issues with any KRA department before they can receive renewed licences.

“Renewal will only be issued upon satisfaction that the applicant does not have any outstanding transaction or issues with any KRA department,” the authority said.

Meanwhile, the authority said the licensing conditions fall under Sections 62-69 and 160-166 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, read together with Regulations 74-81 and 153-168 of the East African Community Customs Management Regulations, 2010.

Further Vetting

Importantly, submitting the required documents does not guarantee licence renewal, as the authority will conduct further vetting before approving applications.

“Production of the above documents does not automatically guarantee renewal of a licence, as the applicant will still undergo further vetting by KRA,” the notice read.

To complete the process, operators can download Form C18 from the KRA website and submit their applications through the Customs Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on or before October 31, 2026.
