KRA Issues Fresh Directives on 2027 Licence Renewal for Customs Agents

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has set October 31, 2026, as the deadline for licensed Customs Agents to submit applications for the renewal of their licences for 2027.

In a public notice dated September 21, KRA said applicants must submit their applications through the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) by the deadline.

“Customs Agents are reminded to submit their applications for renewal of Customs Agents Licences for 2027 through the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on or before 31st October 2026,” KRA stated.

Customs Agents Licences to Expire in December

The Authority said Customs Agents’ licences will expire on December 31, 2026, except for three-year Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) licences.

“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to inform Customs Agents that their licences will expire on 31st December, 2026, except the 3 year Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) licences,” read part of the notice.

KRA noted that the renewal requirement applies to all licensed Customs Agents whose current licences are due to expire at the end of the year.

It also highlighted that the licensing of Customs Agents is governed by Section 145 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, as well as Regulations 149 to 152 of the East African Community Customs Management Regulations, 2010.

“Provisions relating to the licensing of Customs agents are contained in Section 145 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 and Regulations 149-152 of the East African Community Customs Management Regulations, 2010.” 

Documents Required for Licence Renewal

According to KRA, Customs Agents seeking renewal must submit their applications together with several supporting documents.

These include a duly filled Form C20, which is available on the KRA website, and a current 2026 Certificate of Registration (CR12/CR13).

Applicants must also provide a valid Tax Compliance Certificate for the company, a Certificate of Bond and Debt Clearance, and a copy of their previous C21 licence.

Besides, applicants are required to submit a KIFWA Clearance Certificate for the year of application.

Meanwhile, Customs Agents have been urged to ensure that all required documents are attached to avoid delays in the renewal process.
