Kenyans living abroad can apply for a Kenyan Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) through the government’s eCitizen platform, with fingerprinting available at Kenyan embassies and high commissions in the diaspora.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says the service is available to applicants in the diaspora, allowing them to complete the process without travelling to Kenya solely to have their fingerprints taken.

An applicant should have an eCitizen account and log in to access the Police Clearance Certificate service.

DCI directs applicants to its eCitizen portal to begin the application process.

Log In To eCitizen

After logging in, the applicant should select the Police Clearance Certificate service and follow the instructions provided on the portal. Kenyan citizens applying as adults should select the adult application option.

Applicants who live abroad should select the appropriate fingerprinting location.

In addition, the DCI lists Kenyan embassies and high commissions among the locations where applicants in the diaspora can have their fingerprints taken.

Therefore, the applicant should select the available payment option and pay the required fee through the eCitizen application process.

Download And Print

Once the application and payment are completed, the applicant should download and print two copies of the invoice and one copy of the C24 form, printed on both sides of an A4 sheet, as instructed by the DCI.

Then the applicant should present the required documents at the selected Kenyan embassy or high commission for fingerprinting.

Further, the DCI has listed missions abroad as designated locations for fingerprint collection for diaspora applicants.

After the fingerprints and application have been submitted, the information is processed by the DCI’s Forensic Fingerprint Identification Bureau, which is responsible for processing and issuing Police Clearance Certificates.

Processing

Once the PCC is ready, the applicant receives an SMS notification and can log into their eCitizen account to download the certificate.

The DCI says that, all matters remaining constant, processing and generation can take up to 24 hours after fingerprinting.
