Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna accuses media houses of manufacturing fake news about him, saying that he does not understand why they do that.

Sifuna says many media houses usually air fake news, especially about him; he mentioned one where he says media houses said that he was fighting with Kalonzo Musyoka over the Ukombozi Party.

“You guys in the media, you know yourselves, you made up stories and newspapers and I was just laughing. How will I be fighting over Ukombozi. I have never uttered the name Ukombozi,” he said.

Additionally, Sifuna said that the fake news always makes him laugh. Kalonzo called him to tell him about the fake media reports, and he told him to stop correcting the media.

Media Houses

According to Sifuna, he supports the media; however, he does not support them reporting fake news that could damage a person’s reputation.

In addition, Sifuna says that a media house announced the launch of a party and even postponed it when they found out that he was in Kirinyaga.

“A media house that I will not mention even set a date for the launch of the party and even postponed when they saw me in Kirinyaga,” said Sifuna.

On the same note, Sifuna also said that he was telling people before that he had a political party, but they did not believe him.

Political Reporting

His remarks highlight concerns over the accuracy of political reporting, particularly when stories about party affiliations and relationships between political leaders are published without enough verification.

Political reporting often attracts significant public interest, especially when it concerns the formation of political parties, possible alliances and disagreements among leaders.

However, it usually requires careful and verified information supported by evidence to avoid publishing fake news, which can be a problem.

Sifuna did not identify the media house he accused of publishing fake news about him and Kalonzo regarding political parties.
