The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has officially announced a vacancy of the post of the Director General where it is inviting qualified and experienced persons to apply for the top leadership role.

As part of the implementation of the NTSA Vision, Mission, and Mandate as stipulated in the NTSA Act No. 33 of 2012, the Director General who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible to the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver strategic leadership and to guarantee proper management of the operations of the Authority in improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents within the country.

NTSA Director General Key Responsibilities

The Director General will:

  • Provide leadership in implementing NTSA’s business plans and strategic goals.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of NTSA programmes and projects, and activities.
  • Strengthen the regulatory framework for road safety in Kenya.
  • Control organizational risks, resources, and PR.
  • Encourage effective organizational culture, integrity, and legal adherence.
  • Establish partnerships with both the government and other interested parties in the road transport sector to promote safe and efficient road transport.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business management, Sciences, Technology, Law or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the public or private sector, with five (5) years of those years served at the top management level.
  • Leadership training lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.

Applications must include:

  1. A detailed Curriculum vitae (CV) stating current position, salary, contact number and names of three references.
  2. Copies of academic and professional certificates and testimonials
  3. Valid clearances from:
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
  • Criminal Investigations Department (DCI).
Deadline & Other Information

All applications should be clearly marked “Application for Director General, Ref: NTSA/DG/BOD/11/2025” and must reach the Chairman on or before November 28, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
