President William Ruto has lifted the veil on the key government officials he communicates with before retiring to bed, shedding light on the team he relies on for advice, coordination, and execution of government policies.

Speaking at the ACK All Saints Pro-Cathedral Church in Maralal, Samburu County, Ruto mentioned that many of the leaders serving closely with him hail from Samburu, a region he praised for producing hardworking and dedicated public servants.

He urged them to uphold diligence, integrity, and commitment to service delivery, noting that their performance directly impacts the government’s success in achieving its development goals.

The President also revealed that he had held discussions with the National Treasury regarding allocations to improve Maralal town roads and other major highways linking the county to surrounding regions.

Antony Lenaiyara, the Last Call Before Bed

Ruto disclosed that Antony Lenaiyara, the Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Health Authority of Kenya, is the last person he often speaks to before going to bed.

Lenaiyara’s role involves steering the digitization of Kenya’s healthcare systems, ensuring efficient data management, and integrating technology into hospitals for better patient outcomes.

His work is crucial to Ruto’s digital transformation agenda across all public services.

Trusted Officers from Samburu in Key Government Roles

The President further listed several other top officers from Samburu who hold influential positions in government.

Among them is Bernice Sialaal Lemedeket, the Accounting Officer at the National Police Service (NPS), responsible for managing the financial operations that keep the country’s law enforcement institutions running efficiently.

Michael Lenasalon, the Principal Secretary for Devolution, plays a vital role in coordinating between the national and county governments to ensure equitable resource distribution.

Also mentioned was Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, the Chief Executive Officer of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), who oversees operations at the country’s largest referral facility, ensuring that it delivers quality healthcare to millions of Kenyans.

Raphael Lekolool, the Chief Executive Officer of Postbank, manages the government-owned financial institution that promotes savings and financial inclusion, especially among rural populations.

Peter Lengapiani, the CEO of Uwezo Fund, is at the forefront of empowering youth, women, and persons with disabilities through accessible loans for small and medium enterprises.
