Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has unveiled the newly created sub-regions and announced the promotion of officers to the rank of County Commissioner
In a statement on Thursday, November 13, Murkomen said they promised to restructure and reinvigorate the National Administration to better serve the people of Kenya during the recently concluded Jukwaa La Usalama public forums.
“We are committed to bringing services closer to wananchi through deliberate decentralisation and efficiency enhancement,” Murkomen said.
The CS said three subregions have been created in Nairobi to improve service delivery to the residents.
“The creation of Nairobi North, Nairobi East, and Nairobi West Service Delivery Coordination Units has been made necessary by the high population of the capital city, now estimated at more than five million,” he said.

Further, the following officials, serving in the rank of County Commissioner, have been promoted and appointed to administer the subregions:
The three will report to the Regional Commissioner, Nairobi Region.

Murkomen said six officers have been promoted and posted in the rank of County Commissioner.
He stated that this is part of ongoing efforts to streamline operations within the National Government Administration
The officers include:
“We have also transferred serving County commissioners to various new stations, taking into consideration their strengths and experiences, as we address the various security and service delivery concerns raised by wananchi during Jukwaa La Usalama public forums. The changes take effect with immediate effect,” he added.
