Shakira Wafula has officially resigned from her position as the Secretary of the Political Committee within David Maraga’s Presidential Campaign, citing concerns over alignment with the campaign’s core values and priorities.

In a statement issued on November 17, Wafula expressed her gratitude at having been allowed to serve in the committee, noting that her involvement offered “valuable, real-time insight ” into the workings of political processes and governance.

She emphasizes that her decision comes after “careful reflection,” making her resignation effective immediately.

“After careful reflection, I have chosen to resign from my position effective immediately as Secretary of the Political Committee and from all responsibilities associated with the campaign,” Wafula said.

Maraga Campaign Slogan

Wafula cited the slogan of the campaign, which is Reset, Restore, and Rebuild, stating that the message is powerful, but achieving its ideals requires deeper alignment with foundational values.

She has pointed out that the difference in directions in relation to these values prompted her to step aside in the hope that her exit would inspire the campaign to revisit its commitment to integrity, transparency, and ethical leadership.

“While the campaign advances the slogan ‘Reset, Restore, and Rebuild,” I believe that truly achieving these ideals requires deeper alignment on foundational values and priorities. As our paths diverge on these principles, I hope my decision encourages meaningful reflection and a renewed commitment to the integrity, transparency, and ethical leadership that the slogan aspires to represent,” she added.

She also wishes the rest of the campaign team the best and has encouraged them to honorably serve and work as a team in achieving their political ambitions.

Despite her departure, Wafula reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people, stating that she remains committed to a Kenya built on accountability, the rule of law, and constant good governance for all its citizens.

“I remain committed to a Kenya where public service is anchored in integrity, accountability, and the consistent practice of good governance for all citizens,” she said.
