A teacher has recounted the final moments before a 3-year-old child was found sexually assaulted and murdered.
Speaking during a court hearing at Milimani High Court, Owino said he saw the suspect around the school a few minutes before Jasmine Bianca disappeared.
Bianca’s disappearance incident happened on March 8th, 2022, at Dandora, Nairobi.
Later, Deborah, Bianca’s sister, raised an alarm that the minor was gone.
“The children followed me to the house. Since I was going with them, I had some sweets with me, so I gave them some. After giving them the sweets, I left them in the house so I could take a basin and go shower in the bathroom,” the teacher said
He added, “I took the basin and showered, and then I heard the children. I heard Deborah’s sister had gone outside again, and they were playing. I heard her saying, ‘Where are you going with Jasmine?’”
When he went to the bathroom, a man was standing on the balcony, but after finishing bathing, the man was nowhere to be seen, and the minor’s whereabouts were also unknown.

According to the teacher, the accused lived on the 3rd floor and was employed to take care of the 3 children, with one being his child.
Bianca’s parents were neighbors to the accused.
“I had just come from work, and where I was living, I was staying with my aunt in Dandora Phase 3. I left work and went there because she lived on the 3rd floor. There were children she was taking care of, one was her own child, and the other two were the ones she babysat.”

Upon searching the baby, they saw items like sandals, which are linked to Bianca in the accused’s house.
Police officers were alerted, and the accused was arrested while trying to flee the scene.
The suspect said the minor is in Dandora phase 1 at the children’s home.
However, Bianca’s body was discovered the next day after her disappearance near the Dandora railway line, and Owino identified her.
Several recovered exhibits were produced in court as the hearing continued before Justice Muigai.
