The Milimani Law Court was shocked when a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer said he was unaware that William Ruto is the President of Kenya.

During the court hearing on November 25th, 2025, the officer also noted that he was not aware that Rigathi Gachagua is the former Deputy President.

The case is between the State and the accused, Nuru Okanga.

When the officer was asked if it is factually correct that Rigathi Gachagua is the former Deputy President, he replied, “I’m not aware.”

He was also asked if he knew the President of Kenya was William Rut,o but he denied.

“I’m not aware, I only concentrate on what I need to do,” the officer said.

What Advocate Representing Okanga Said

Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino, among other advocates, was representing the accused at Milimani Law Courts.

Owino said the DCI officer hesitated to reveal the truth of the matter.

“Today at Milimani court, while defending Nuru Okanga, I went head-to-head with a DCI officer, and let’s just say the truth didn’t flinch, but he definitely did,” Babu stated.

He added that the officer failed to present hard evidence citing irrelevance in the case.

“I pressed him on every inconsistency, every gap, every conveniently forgotten detail. When you come to court with shaky evidence, you’d better be ready for questions; real questions,” added Owino.

According to him, intimidation and rank don’t work in the courtroom, but facts win.

What Babu Said About Okanga’s Charges

The legislator said Okanga was subjected to charges that are against the rights of Kenyan citizens.

The oppressed and marginalized find it rough with the government as a way of silencing them.

“He has been subjected to charges that are not only frivolous but are a clear violation of his rights as a citizen. These charges are part of a broader narrative, a narrative where the oppressed, the marginalized, the everyday individual, finds themselves facing an overreaching government or a system that seeks to silence them, to undermine their very existence, based on nothing more than suspicion, misinformation, or political expediency,” Babu explained.
