A Member of Parliament (MP) from Kisii County is facing scrutiny following an incident in which he assaulted a man in a local restaurant within Kisii town on Thursday, November 27, 2025

According to CCTV footage, the victim, who was assaulted, was seated in a corner of the restaurant having his meal when the altercation began.

The MP walked in, kicked him in the chest, and grabbed him by his neck, prompting the other customers and staff to intervene, separating them.

Despite their efforts, the MP continued assaulting him, knocking him to the floor.

MP Captured Assaulting the Man

The footage also shows the MP slapping another customer who was trying to hold him back.

The victim, Astarico Omariba Moriasi, reported the incident to the police, claiming that the assault occurred after a heated argument with the MP.

Omariba alleges that the MP, whose name has not been disclosed, accused him of interfering in a private affair.

According to the victim, the altercation began when he attempted to engage in a conversation with the MP, which led to a physical confrontation.

Omariba claims the MP became aggressive, resulting in him being assaulted in the presence of other customers at the establishment.

“The lawmaker stormed in to where I sat and started shouting ‘you have to respect me’, alleging that I have an affair with one of his girlfriends, the then started beating me,” Omariba told the news press.

In his report to the police, Omariba stated that he was left with minor injuries and that he sought medical attention following the incident.

Police Have Launched Investigations

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the MP is yet to make a public statement regarding the accusations.

Omariba’s lawyer said they have already filed a P3 form and other procedures, but the culprit has yet to be arrested.

This incident has raised concerns about the conduct of public figures in Kenya and the need for accountability when it comes to maintaining order and respect, both in public and private settings.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged any witnesses to come forward to provide further details about the incident.
