Motorists travelling along key highways linking the Port of Mombasa to western Kenya and neighbouring Uganda should expect delays and traffic disruptions following the movement of a wide load cargo by logistics company Africa Global Logistics.
In a notice issued by the company on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the cargo transport operation is set to begin on May 18, 2026, and continue until October 18, 2026, covering a period of six months.
According to the notice, the wide-load cargo measures 36 metres in length, 40 metres in width, and 5.5 metres in height, with a total weight of 95 tonnes.

AGL said the cargo will be transported along two separate routes across the country.

The first route will pass through Mombasa, Mtito Andei, Nakuru, Eldoret and Malaba before heading to Nairobi.
The second route will begin in Mombasa and pass through Mtito Andei, Kibwezi, Thika, Nyahururu, Subukia, Nakuru, Eldoret and Malaba.
Similar Cargo Operations Announced
Elsewhere, motorists using the Mombasa-Malaba corridor were earlier warned to expect disruptions following another abnormal load operation announced by P.N Mashru Limited.
In a notice dated Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the company said the operation would run from May 11, 2026, to November 11, 2026.
The cargo, described as a wide load, measures about 38 metres in length, 4.5 metres in width, and 5.5 metres in height, with a total weight of 49,000 kilograms.

According to the notice, the convoy is expected to pass through Mombasa, Voi, Kibwezi, Kitui, Kilimambogo, Kabati, Kiganjo, Chaka, Nyahururu, Nakuru, Eldama Ravine, Poa Place, Eldoret Interchange and Malaba.
Road users were urged to remain cautious whenever they encounter the convoy because the movement could slow traffic due to escort vehicles and the size of the cargo.
At the same time, TransEast Professional Hauliers also announced a separate abnormal cargo transportation exercise involving transformers, earth-moving machines, steel structures, boats and breakbulk crates.
The operation, announced on May 7, 2026, is expected to run from May 8 to August 6, 2026, between 6.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
According to the company, the cargo involved measures between 25 and 40 metres in length, 4.1 to 6 metres in width, and up to 6 metres in height.
Some of the highways expected to be affected include the Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Kericho-Awasi-Ahero-Kisumu route, Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret-Malaba corridor, Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Kericho-Kisii-Migori-Isebania highway, and the Mombasa-Nairobi-Thika-Kenol-Makutano-Embu-Moyale route.
