Babu Owino Breaks Silence After Ben Sirkal Accused Him of Threats, Abuse and Intimidation

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has broken his silence after Ben Sirkal accused him of threats, abuse, intimidation and buying academic papers through bribery.

Speaking during an interview on Alex Mwakideu TV on July 23, 2026, Babu Owino dismissed the claims, defended his conduct and academic record, and linked the accusations to envy

“I know Babu has weaknesses, but not to that extent. I have my weaknesses,” Babu said

First, Ben Sirkal laid out a series of serious allegations on the Iko Nini Podcast, claiming Owino engaged in coercion and intimidation, describing an incident he alleged involved threats against women.

“We went to the club with Babu, we picked up some women. Babu told them he wanted to go with them… then when they refused, do you know the guy drove all the way to Karura Forest, opened the car boot, took out a machete and told the women to run? Those women ran into Karura, I don’t even know where they went,” Ben Sirkal claimed.

Next, he claimed Owino used pressure and force in personal interactions.

“This is someone who, if he buys a woman alcohol, she must sleep with him. If she refuses, his bouncers will deal with her,” he said.

He then escalated the accusations by alleging that Owino uses fear and influence to control those around him while also questioning his academic credentials.

“Babu survives by instilling fear in people. He uses police, criminals, gangs and goons to create fear. Everybody you see around Babu, he has something on them,” he added.

Babu Owino Pushes Back and Points to Contradictions

In response, Owino rejected the claims and challenged Sirkal’s credibility, pointing to what he described as contradictions and envy in his past statements.

“You know envy and jealousy is a very dangerous thing. Envy and jealousy made Satan leave heaven. Satan was the angel of entertainment in heaven, but he saw the way he was controlling those angels and then saw that there was God who was above him, he couldn’t stomach that. Because of that, Lucifer was thrown here on earth and is disturbing people like Ben,” he said.

At the same time, he acknowledged personal shortcomings but insisted the accusations exaggerated his character and actions.

MP Defends Academic Record Against Fraud Claims

Meanwhile, Babu addressed claims that he bought academic papers and firmly defended his academic record, citing his past performance in school competitions.

He expanded on this by recalling regional academic contests across Nyanza, emphasizing his dominance in mathematics.

“In high school, and my classmates who are watching this podcast today from Kisumu Boys, they will attest to this we used to do joint examinations with other schools. And I used to beat, in mathematics, all these schools, all of them,” he said.

Even as he defended his record, Owino turned his attention to Sirkal’s background, disputing his academic standing and suggesting the allegations stem from personal grievances rather than facts.

Owino maintained that he only came to know Sirkal during campus politics at the University of Nairobi, dismissing claims of any earlier rivalry during their school years.

Hakuna kitu top kwa Ben. He has never graduated. He’s still a first-year at the University of Nairobi. All that time. He has never graduated, my brother. That is how unfocused he has become. That is how the devil is misusing, using, and abusing this gentleman,” he added.
