The Directorate of Criminal Investigations seized 283.5 kilograms of bhang worth Ksh 14.17 million and arrested four suspects in twin anti-narcotics operations in Kapsabet and Limuru on Monday.
Officers from Kapsabet Police Station intercepted a black Mitsubishi vehicle, registration KDP 296G, on the Kapsabet-Eldoret road.
The DCI described the car as a “mobile stash house”, and officers recovered sacks of cannabis sativa weighing 283.5kg hidden inside the vehicle.
Authorities stated the street value stands at approximately Ksh 14,175,000.

Police arrested the car’s occupants, Gabriel Lubasi and Wycliffe Geda, at the scene. Officers whisked the two to Kapenguria Police Station, where they now await processing and arraignment.
“The intercepted vehicle turned out to be a mobile stash house, revealing carefully hidden sacks of cannabis sativa,” the DCI said in a statement posted on X.
In a second operation, the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit launched a raid along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
The units intercepted a public service vehicle in Kamirithu, Limuru.
Officers searched the PSV and found two black backpacks belonging to passenger Lydia Arebo Emongoluk.
The backpacks contained five bales of bhang wrapped in yellow cello tape and a tote bag with six additional bales.

Police linked the second batch to co-passenger Petronilla Kwamboka.
ANU and TOCU officers arrested both women as they now sit in custody awaiting their day in court.
The DCI said the operations underscore the National Police Service’s commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking across Kenya.

The agency runs the #FichuaKwaDCI campaign to encourage anonymous tip-offs.
Police promised to continue to process the seized bhang as exhibits, while Investigators will prefer charges against all four suspects once processing ends.
