Elevate Africa Confirms Leaders for 2026 Annual Convening in Accra

Elevate Africa has confirmed the participation of several African presidents, vice presidents, former heads of state, ministers, and senior policymakers at its 2026 Annual Convening scheduled for October 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

The two-day event will be held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel under the theme, “Africa: Defining Her Future.” It is expected to bring together between 400 and 600 delegates from across Africa and the diaspora to discuss issues affecting the continent’s economic and social development.

Among the confirmed leaders are Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio and Ghanaian Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Former heads of state expected at the convening include former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former Malawian President Joyce Banda, former Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib and former Ghanaian President John Kufuor.

Ministers In Africa

The organisers have also confirmed the participation of several ministers from across the continent.

They include Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musa Musawa and Egypt’s Minister of Planning Ahmed Rostom.

Kenyan former Cabinet Secretary for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs Martha Karua is also listed among the participants.

Senior officials from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat will also participate in the discussions.

Discussions Planned

They include Chief of Staff Rui Livramento, Senior Trade Economist Dr Tei Kitcher and Senior Advisor to the Secretary-General Constance Besse-Moser.

According to Elevate Africa, their participation will support discussions on continental integration, trade and implementation of Africa’s economic agenda.

The programme will focus on four main areas: leadership and governance; trade, investment and doing business in Africa; youth opportunity and leadership; and the diaspora, return, creative economy and soft power.

Sessions are expected to examine the implementation of AfCFTA, regional investment, creative industries, governance, youth participation and the contribution of the African diaspora to the continent’s economic transformation.

Elevate Africa Co-Founder Her Royal Majesty Olorì Atuwatsé III said the convening is intended to create a platform for leaders from different sectors and generations to exchange ideas and discuss pathways for shared prosperity.

The organisers said additional heads of state, ministers and government officials are still being confirmed, and further announcements will be made ahead of the event
