The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new fuel prices that will take effect from June 15, 2026, to July 14, 2026, with diesel recording a significant reduction of Ksh 10 per litre.
In a statement issued under Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act, 2019, and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022, EPRA said the maximum retail price of Super Petrol will decrease by Ksh 0.22 per litre, while Diesel will drop by Ksh 10.00 per litre. The price of Kerosene will remain unchanged during the review period.
In Nairobi, motorists will now pay Ksh 214.03 per litre for Super Petrol, Ksh 222.86 per litre for Diesel, and Ksh 191.38 per litre for Kerosene. The new prices will take effect at midnight and remain in force for the next 30 days.
EPRA noted that the prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) in accordance with the VAT Act, 2013, Legal Notice No. 70 of April 15, 2026, the Finance Act, 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2024, and the revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
The regulator further revealed that the government will cushion consumers through the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) Fund by utilizing approximately KSh10 billion to subsidize the prices of diesel and kerosene during the current pricing cycle.
“EPRA wishes to assure the public of its continued commitment to the observance of fair competition and protection of the interests of both consumers and investors in the energy and petroleum sectors,” EPRA said.
