Fire Destroys Several Vehicles at Garage Near Nairobi CBD

Several vehicles were destroyed after a fire broke out at a garage along Ole Dume Road in Kilimani, Nairobi, in an incident that took more than four hours to contain.

The fire reportedly engulfed vehicles, petrol and other highly flammable materials stored at the premises, making it difficult and dangerous for responders to contain the blaze.

“Several vehicles have been destroyed after a fire broke out at a garage along Ole Dume Road in Kilimani last night. The blaze reportedly took over four hours to contain due to petrol and other flammable materials at the premises. A painful loss for the vehicle owners.”

Fire Breaks Out at Kilimani Garage

According to Mosiria, Nairobi County’s disaster management officers immediately responded after receiving a distress call about the fire.

Mosiria said he personally visited the scene, where he coordinated the response alongside the disaster management team, members of the local community, and mechanics at the garage.

“We received a distress call at our County Disaster Management Centre and immediately responded. I personally went to the scene, where we coordinated the response together with our disaster management team, the local community, and the mechanics at the garage,” Mosiria said.

He said the presence of vehicles, petrol and other highly flammable materials made the firefighting operation particularly difficult and dangerous.

The county official said the fire took more than four hours to bring under control as emergency teams worked to contain the blaze.

He commended the disaster management officers for their efforts during the operation and also thanked members of the community and mechanics who assisted the response.

Mosiria Assures Residents of Continued Emergency Response

Mosiria described the incident as a painful loss for the mechanics and vehicle owners whose vehicles were inside the garage.

In addition, he expressed sympathy to the affected vehicle owners and mechanics, saying the county’s thoughts were with those who suffered losses in the incident.

The county official added that Nairobi County would continue working to respond to emergencies and protect lives and property across the city.

“Our thoughts are with the mechanics and vehicle owners who have suffered losses tonight. We will continue doing everything possible to respond to emergencies and protect lives and property across Nairobi,” Mosiria stated.

The exact number of vehicles destroyed or the cause of the fire had not been revealed by the time of publication.
