Kenya has appointed former Principal Secretary Geoffrey Kaituko as the Acting Head of Mission at its High Commission in Ottawa, Canada.

In a statement issued on July 3, the Kenyan High Commission in Ottawa confirmed his appointment

“The High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in Ottawa is pleased to announce that the Deputy Head of Mission, H.E. Ambassador Geoffrey E. Kaituko, CBS, has assumed the functions of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim following the departure of H.E. Ambassador Carolyne Kamende Daudi,” the commission stated.

The appointment comes after Ambassador Carolyne Kamende Daudi concluded her tenure as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Canada.

As a result, the mission required immediate leadership to sustain operations and preserve strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

Geoffrey Kaituko Assumes the Responsibility

Following this announcement, Kaituko officially took over the responsibilities of leading the mission on an interim basis.

He now directs daily diplomatic operations while Kenya prepares to appoint a substantive High Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Kaituko steps into the role with extensive experience in government and international affairs.

He previously served as Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development before moving to the State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs between 2022 and 2025. Through these roles, he built a strong track record in public administration and policy implementation.
