Gor Mahia fans cause chaos during match against Tusker

Gor Mahia has been charged by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Disciplinary Committee following incidents involving their supporters during and after the FKF Super Cup clash against Tusker FC at Nyayo Stadium on August 23, 2026.

According to a statement dated September 4, the club faces six charges, including pitch invasion, throwing dangerous objects, violence, disorderly conduct, property damage and other unsporting behaviour.

“Gor Mahia have been charged by the FKF Disciplinary Committee over incidents involving their supporters during and after the FKF Super Cup clash against Tusker FC at Nyayo Stadium on August 23,” read part of the statement.

Nyayo Chaos Puts Gor Mahia Under Disciplinary Spotlight

FKF alleges that supporters in Stand 5 threw bottles at uniformed police officers during the disturbances.

The police reportedly responded by firing tear gas into the stand, with the situation subsequently escalating.

According to the federation, supporters then breached security and invaded the pitch, disrupting the post-match awards ceremony.

It also noted that several journalists were roughed up as the disorder spread around the stadium.

In addition, FKF said it will use the Match Commissioner’s Report, video footage and other relevant evidence to support its case.

Following the charges, Gor Mahia have been given 72 hours to submit a written response, after which the matter will be determined by the FKF Disciplinary Committee.

FKF Vows Action Over Super Cup Chaos

The disciplinary charges come after FKF announced an investigation into incidents of violence, disorder and hooliganism witnessed after the Super Cup match between Gor Mahia and Tusker FC.

The federation said it would work with relevant authorities and football stakeholders to establish what happened during the disturbances.

Further, FKF condemned violence and disorder at football matches, saying there was no place for “violence, destruction of property, intimidation or any conduct” that could put players, journalists, officials, fans, security personnel and members of the public at risk.

The federation also expressed concern over the use of tear gas and other crowd-control measures during the incidents.

“While security agencies have a responsibility to maintain order, such measures must be exercised with restraint, professionalism and in accordance with the law,” FKF said.

At the time, FKF said it would pursue appropriate action against anyone found responsible for violence or misconduct, regardless of whether they were fans, club officials, stewards or security officers.

It added that anyone found to have breached its regulations or the law should face appropriate action in accordance with due process.
