A love triangle scandal at Brookshine Academy in Mwiki has escalated into a national conversation after a parent accused the school principal of assaulting a Form 4 student over a romantic rivalry involving a fellow female learner.

The student, identified as Elvis Mwangi, was at the centre of the dispute that allegedly triggered weeks of tension between him and the school administration.

According to the family, the principal, Titus Okanda, allegedly harassed and physically assaulted the student, leaving him with a red eye and visible marks on his back.

As pressure mounted, Elvis Mwangi and his mother took the matter directly to government official Geoffrey Mosiria, demanding urgent intervention over what they described as escalating abuse at Brookshine Academy.

They personally presented their complaint and pushed for immediate action.

During a phone conversation with the principal, Mosiria pressed for answers.

“This young man has told me that the way you have beaten him is because of the relationship between him and this girl which he also claimed that you want the same girl,” he said.

Mother Raises Alarm Over Alleged Abuse at Brookshine Academy

The student’s mother strongly defended her son and questioned how the Brookshine Academy administration handled the situation.

She revealed that she had already alerted the school after the incident that the boy was in the ward.

She also challenged the justification behind the alleged assault.

“Ni vibaya Davis kukuwa na girlfriend? Unataka akuwa gay? Kwa nini hukunipigia simu na mama Grace tupatane shule kuliko kupiga mtoto,” she told the principal over the phone.

In a more emotional appeal, she raised concerns about the severity of the incident.

“Do you know the pain of a child? Unge ungegonga huyu mtoto akufa sahi ungesema nikufe tuongee?,” she asked.

Principal Responds to Allegations

In response, Principal Titus Okanda apologized during a phone call and denied any malicious intent, although he acknowledged the incident.

“I want to apologize so much. The intent here is that there was no malice… Naomba msamaha that is one,” he said.

He explained that the situation stemmed from a relationship involving a 17-year-old student, which later escalated into conflict among a group of girls.

“What transpired from them was that a group of five girls was fighting and the sentiments were that the girl was pregnant. Then we decided to test this girl,” he stated.

Mosiria Escalates Brookshine Academy Case to the Ministry

Mosiria confirmed that he would escalate the matter involving the Brookshine Academy principal to the Ministry of Education for further investigation.

He emphasized the need for a higher-level probe into the allegations.

“I will hand this matter over to the Ministry of Education. I am sharing these photos and the details to the ministry. I think this is a matter that should be addressed at the ministry level,” he said.

As investigations begin, pressure continues to mount on education authorities to establish the truth behind the allegations and determine whether disciplinary or legal action will follow.
