Is Ol Kalou Affected? Kenya Power Lists Areas Scheduled for Power Outages Today

No. Ol Kalou is not among the areas scheduled to experience planned power outages today, according to Kenya Power’s latest notice.

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several counties today, Thursday, July 16, to facilitate planned maintenance of the power network.

In a notice dated July 15, Kenya Power said the planned outages would affect parts of Nyeri, Meru, Mombasa, Kwale, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, and Migori counties, with electricity expected to be restored once the maintenance works are completed.

“The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (16th July 2026),” read part of the notice.

Kenya Power List Areas Scheduled for Maintenance

According to the company, the following areas are scheduled for planned maintenance, grouped by county:

Nyeri County

In the Mt. Kenya region, customers in Chinga and Demka will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The outage will affect areas including Chinga Boys, Chinga Girls, Demka Dairies, Gichichi Market, Kagongo, Kahutiri, Kianue, Chinga Tea Factory, Muirungi Market, Mukurweini Water Works, Maria Goretti School, Gikurwe, and neighbouring customers.

Additionally, Kenya Power said power will also be interrupted in Ark Lodge, Amboni, and Bondeni between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting Ark Lodge, Bondeni, Kiguru Primary School, Amboni Secondary School, Ruire, Murungaru Residence, and nearby customers.

Meru County

In Meru County, power will be unavailable in Nchiru, Kagaene, and Machangene from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Meru University of Science and Technology, Cedar Hotel, Mwithanga, Kanthiari, Uringu, Kamaroo, Mwathene Dispensary, Kimachia Secondary School, Kagaene Shopping Centre, Kithiri Polytechnic, Mbeu Sub-District Hospital, and surrounding customers.

Mombasa and Kwale Counties

In Mombasa County, electricity will be interrupted in Utange Barawa and Mwembeni from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas affected include Joho Secondary School, Utange, Barawa, Wema Centre, Queens Hotel, Kiembeni, Bamburi Mwisho, Naivas Bamburi, Masters Bamburi, Ajanta Estate, Lake View Estate, and neighbouring customers.

Meanwhile, in Kwale County, planned maintenance will affect Msambweni and Vingujini between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The outage will also affect Samburu Town and Kanagoni during the same period.

Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, and Migori Counties

The company further highlighted that customers in Okore Ogonda in Kisumu County will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Jans Academy, Susan Owiyo’s residence, Hon. Raila Odinga’s residence, and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, electricity will be interrupted in Tilol, Songich, and Wonifour from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Chuiyat, Wonfour, Tilol, Kileges, Chekongony, Rot Tuga, Cherorget, Sirwo, and nearby customers.

Migori County will also experience scheduled outages between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Migori Airstrip, Masaba Village, Owiro Akoko, and Piny Owacho, with Lake Basin, Masaba Village, Migori Airstrip, and neighbouring customers among those expected to be affected.
