Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has nominated former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa for the position of Deputy Party Leader as he seeks to strengthen the party’s political base at the Coast ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Kalonzo made the proposal on Friday, August 14, 2026, when he visited Aisha Jumwa at her residence in Kakuyuni, Kilifi County.
“Kwa hivyo mimi I propose kwamba na hiyo tutaenda kule tutangaze kiresmi katika makao mkuu kwamba yeye (Aisha Jumwa) atakuwa naibu kiongozi wa Wiper Patriotic Front. Na hicho cheo hakuna chama kingine kimewahi kumpatia Aisha,” Kalonzo said.
Wiper Begins Courting Aisha Jumwa
Wiper leaders had already started engaging Jumwa before Kalonzo made his proposal.
On August 2, 2026, Kitui Senator Enock Wambua and Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako met Jumwa in Malindi as they sought to bring her into Wiper’s fold.
Their engagement set the stage for Kalonzo’s visit to Jumwa’s Kakuyuni residence on August 14, where he proposed her for the Deputy Party Leader position.

Wiper Expands Its Leadership Structure
Meanwhile, Kalonzo has continued to reorganise Wiper’s leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On August 7, he named Nyali MP Mohamed Ali as Deputy Party Leader-designate and appointed former Kigumo MP Jamleck Irungu Kamau as party chairman. He also appointed lawyer Ndegwa Njiru as the party’s spokesperson.
The latest proposal therefore adds another prominent politician to Wiper’s leadership plans as Kalonzo seeks to expand the party’s national reach.

On July 30, 2026, she announced her resignation from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and declared her intention to contest the Kilifi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
The following day, July 31, she joined the Linda Mwananchi Movement, marking her first major political alignment after leaving UDA.
Jumwa’s departure followed political disagreements and frustrations surrounding her gubernatorial ambitions.
She subsequently engaged with Wiper leaders before Kalonzo made his proposal on August 14.
For now, however, Jumwa remains a nominee for the Deputy Party Leader position, with Kalonzo indicating that the formal announcement will take place at Wiper headquarters.
