Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen held a closed-door meeting with Israeli officials a day after President William Ruto condemned Iran for attacking parts of Israel and targeting US military bases across the Middle East.
According to CS Murkomen, Kenya and Israel enjoy longstanding diplomatic and economic ties spanning agriculture, trade, technology exchange, and security cooperation.
He confirmed that the meeting took place on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026.
Murkomen stated that he met with Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, to discuss ways of deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the area of cybersecurity.
“This morning, I met with the Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Gideon Behar, to discuss ways of deepening this cooperation, especially in the area of cybersecurity,” read part of the statement.

Beyond cybersecurity cooperation, Murkomen revealed that the meeting also focused on matters of international peace and security, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, where he assured the Ambassador that Kenya supports the framework of multilateral institutions in resolving the conflict and promoting efforts toward de-escalation.
The Interior CS’s meeting with Israeli officials comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, where the United States and Israel have launched extensive military strikes against Iran and Iranian‑aligned forces, triggering retaliatory attacks across the region and escalating the conflict.
President William Ruto strongly condemned recent attacks by Iran on several countries in the Middle East, warning that the escalating conflict poses a serious threat to international peace and security.
In a statement dated Monday, March 2, President William Ruto condemned the strikes on the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, describing them as part of the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

He noted that the regionalisation of the conflict could destabilise the wider region and stressed the importance of multilateral institutions in resolving the crisis.
“At this defining and perilous moment in global history, longstanding multilateral institutions remain indispensable frameworks for resolving the current crisis in the Middle East,” President Ruto said.
The President called for urgent engagement by multiple stakeholders to de-escalate tensions, stressing the need for dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation.
