A man moves to court to have MP Peter Salasya undergo a mental assessment because he thinks he is not mentally stable due to the insults he directs at Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In a video on social media, a man named Fred Muka says he has moved to court so that Salasya can have a mental examination because he thinks he is not okay in the head.
“Salasya has been insulting Senator Edwin Sifuna for the past seven days every hour on his social media platforms and for me that confirms that he is of unsound mind,” Fred said.
Fred says he does not believe Salasya is of sound mind and is capable of holding a public office because of the same.
Fred’s Court Application
Additionally, he said a person of sound mind will insult someone and wait for a response, unlike Salasya, who insults Sifuna every day without even receiving a response from him.
He now wants an order from court for Salasya to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, which is supposed to determine if he is of sound mind and if he is capable of being a member of parliament.

According to Fred, the application has been filed in the interest of the public, saying that the court will determine whether Salasya is fit to continue being a member of parliament.
Salasya has been criticizing and insulting Edwin Sifuna on his social media despite Sifuna not responding to the insults.

The matter has attracted public attention with supporters and critics weighing in on Salasya’s move of insulting Sifuna.

Salasya Has Not Responded
As of the time of publication, Salasya had not publicly responded to Fred’s court application or the claims that he should undergo a psychiatric assessment.
Similarly, Sifuna has also not responded to the matter and to the insults of Salasya.
If the matter gets admitted by the court, it will be up to the court to determine whether the request meets the legal threshold for ordering a mental assessment on a person.
Further developments in the case will entirely depend on the court’s decision once the application is considered.
