Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife through its Magical Kenya, Origin of Wonder platform and Google Kenya announced a strategic AI-driven tourism strategy partnership.
According to a press release issued on May 29, 2026, the collaboration follows a recommendation from the Kenya Tourism Rebranding and Repositioning Taskforce.
It will advance Kenya’s ambition to become Africa’s foremost AI-powered tourism destination.
First, the partnership applies AI through the Magical Kenya platform to connect global travelers directly with Kenya’s unique tourism experiences.
It aims to increase visitor numbers, create new jobs, and shift destination management from intuition-based policy to a real-time, data-driven system that delivers highly personalised travel experiences.
Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, said the partnership signals a new chapter for the sector.
“Adopting an AI-first approach allows us to move beyond traditional marketing and build a sophisticated digital infrastructure. This will position Kenya as Africa’s leading digitally enabled tourism destination, helping us to double international arrivals and increase revenue for national prosperity,” she stated.

Ministry Deploys AI and Machine Learning to Attract High-Value Travellers
Next, the strategy deploys advanced AI and machine learning tools to attract high-value travellers from priority markets.
In addition, the partners will co-develop an AI-powered Tourism Pulse Data Hub on Google Cloud as a real-time dashboard.
The system draws on global Google Search trends and brand sentiment to guide evidence-based policy and rapid market responses.
It also powers an AI-curated trip planner using Google’s Gemini models, which generates personalised itineraries tailored to each traveller’s preferences instead of standard packages.
Youth Empowerment and SMEs Through Digital Skills
Furthermore, AI-driven digital capacity building sits at the centre of the initiative.
Google’s skilling programmes will equip youth and small tourism enterprises with specialised digital skills.
In addition, the programme trains young local curators to design unique experiences using Kenya’s digital assets on Google Arts & Culture, creating new technology-enabled employment pathways.
Meanwhile, the partnership uses the programme analytics and Google Ads to drive precision marketing.
As a result, targeted campaigns reach potential travellers in priority markets exactly when they begin planning their next journey.
Alex Okosi, Managing Director for Google Sub-Saharan Africa, welcomed the initiative.
“We are excited to see how the power of AI and our digital skilling initiatives can empower Kenyan youth and tourism SMEs,” he said.
” By supporting ecosystem innovators to train local curators and provide advanced market intelligence, we are helping to create a more resilient and inclusive tourism economy that showcases the very best of Kenya to the world,” he added.
Finally, the collaboration builds a modern, data-led AI tourism infrastructure that strengthens Kenya’s position as a preferred global destination for years to come.
