“We are pleased to inform all farmers that the County Government has now received an additional twenty-five percent (25%) payment from the Food for Education Organisation through the Lower Murang’a Farmers Cooperative Society,” the County Government said.
The county government said the new funds will speed up payments and reduce outstanding arrears. It added that it will begin a fresh payment cycle immediately through established farmer channels.
“Following this development, the County Government will immediately commence another round of payments to mango farmers. This payment will cover an additional twenty-five percent (25%) of the value of mangoes delivered, bringing the total amount paid to farmers to seventy percent (70%),” it added.

Officials said that the county will continue to send money directly to farmers. They confirmed that payments will go to registered bank accounts and M-Pesa numbers. This approach will improve transparency and reduce delays in disbursement.
The county also said it expects to clear the remaining balance once it receives pending remittances from the buyer. These funds include compensation for losses and a subsidy linked to the mango value chain programme.
Farmers have received assurance that the remaining payment depends on external remittances. However, the county government said it will follow up closely to ensure full settlement within the shortest time possible.
