The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will roll out digital eLogbook for nine motor vehicle services, starting June 10, 2026, replacing paper logbooks.
NTSA Director General Eng. Nashon Kondiwa stated that the system will streamline ownership and financing services by mitigating document fraud, ensuring the integrity of records, and reducing the time required to complete transactions.
The eLogbooks will be hosted and accessed through the eCitizen portal.
“We are not only bringing services closer to wananchi by allowing them to access logbooks online, but we are eradicating bureaucracy and cartels,” Kondiwa told the press during a media briefing.
Upon completion of any of the nine services by any motorists, digitally verified certificates with QR encoded links to vehicle ownership will automatically be generated and sent out to them.
The following services will have eLogbooks:
- First registration.
- Ownership transfer.
- Alternative forms of transfer.
- Replacement of lost or damaged logbooks.
- Re-registration.
- De-registration.
- Vehicle charges.
Lastly, release for ownership financing transactions and changes of particulars.
Vehicle owners will be able to download and access their logbooks via their eCitizen accounts, doing away with any waiting periods usually encountered when seeking to get a paper document.
