Johana Ng’eno’s Brother Paul Ng'eno Dies After Gachagua Visit

Paul Ng’eno, the elder brother of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, has died hours after former Deputy President and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua visited their family.

The family confirmed that Paul died on Friday evening, August 21, 2026, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Eldoret.

Paul had reportedly been involved in a motorbike accident several months ago, which affected his spinal cord and throat area.

He recently underwent surgery and was said to have been in stable condition as he prepared for discharge. However, his condition deteriorated on Friday, and he later died.

Paul was in good health during the burial of his younger brother, Johana Ng’eno, in March 2026.

Gachagua Pledged to Pay Hospital Bill

Gachagua visited the Ng’eno family on Friday morning at their home in Mogondo, Emurua Dikirr, where he met their mother, Mary Temas.

During the visit, Gachagua pledged to settle Paul’s hospital bill, which stood at Ksh1.8 million.

“I have told Ng’eno’s mother that we will take care of the bill. Together with my friends, we will settle the matter and ensure that her son, who is in hospital, is taken care of,” Gachagua said.

The hospital bill was reportedly paid on Friday.

Gachagua also offered to support the family in constructing a mausoleum or shelter over Johana Ng’eno’s grave.

During the visit, he criticised the government for what he described as neglect of the family following Johana’s death, saying the mother had not received the assistance she had previously been promised.

Kenyans Mourn Paul Ng’eno

Following Paul’s death, Kenyans took to social media to send messages of condolence to the Ng’eno family.

“Sincere condolences to the family, especially Mama Mary Temas, who has tragically lost her only two sons within a span of less than six months,” Koech said.

“May the Lord comfort the family, friends, Mogondo community, and Emurua Dikirr at large during this difficult time. May Paul’s soul rest in eternal peace.”

Another Kenyan wrote: “Rest in power. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Ronnie Chirchir also sent his condolences, saying: “Pole sana, Mama Ngong. May God give you and the entire family strength and comfort during this difficult time.”

Johana Ng’eno Died in Helicopter Crash

Paul’s death comes about six months after his younger brother, Johana Ng’eno, died in a helicopter crash alongside five other people.

On February 28, 2026, a Eurocopter AS350 helicopter, registration 5Y-DSB, crashed in Chepkiep Forest, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.

The helicopter was carrying Johana Ng’eno and five other people. All six occupants died in the crash.

The accident occurred after the aircraft reportedly encountered poor weather conditions, including thick fog, low clouds, and rain.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
